Wow! Happy New Year blog readers! I have no idea how time is escaping me these days but it all seems a blur. I can not believe we are in 2012 already! I have been pretty busy these days and have plenty to share in the next little bit, including some of the tags I did for the 12 tags (I got up to 10). Off to scan and photograph my stuff to share!

I completed 3 tags in a night, as I'm trying to follow along with Tim. They aren't fabulous, but for me it was about trying out the techniques and playing with my stuff! Will likely used these on Christmas cards or on gifts I give away....we'll see - has to be someone who would appreciate it.

Day 3 - loved making my own custom stamp pad

Day 4 - loved playing with stains on this tag and then crackle paint. Some of my favourite mediums!

Day 5 - love the technique for the background, but can never seem to get it "right". Might need to try a stamp that covers more surface. Made "ribbon" out of cheesecloth and coloured it with Distress Ink.

Day 2 tag - boy am I behind!

So I've been trying to do Tim Holtz's 12 tags of Christmas, but typical in my life, I didn't even have my weekend to do much creating! I got #2 done and have 3 and 4 as works in progress on my table. Hoping to get them done tonight.

Here is my version where I used the regular Kraft resist paper and his scallop edge die. Using his techniques for the background and the sticky back canvas on the wreath.

Day 1 of 12 Tags

As most of my crafty friends know, I simply can not get enough of this man. That's right, Tim Holtz is doing his 12 tags of Christmas again on his blog and I've decided to play along too.

Believe it or not, I don't own many of Tims dies or embossing folders, so I improvised. I took the Sizzix snowflake embossing folder and did my version of Tim's double embossing, using glitter embossing powder. For the "Joy", I used my Slice FaLaLaLa card and DCWV glittter paper. Since I own the magnetic cutting pad, I put my Slice in position and cut without moving 4 times - 5 might have worked better, since I still had to use the scissors. I used Tim's new Limited Edition distress inks to colour this in added the glitter tape and pearls to the top to finish it up.

And speaking of another man I can get enough of - here's my munchkin man sporting his Movember 'stash.

I can not believe it is December already! In the creative front I will be trying to do December Daily and Tims 12 tags again this year. We'll see how it goes!

I'm very excited to share that the online bead magazine Beading Times posted my watch that I had Etsy, as an example of good watch design (thank you so very much - blush!)

Now, waaaaay back in October, Pointer Scrapbooking hosted a day for the Creative Chicks to come and do demos. Below are the make and takes we shared that day and I thought I would post them for inspiration. If Heidi hosts another one of these days, you should definitely come out and play.

Also in October ,at Scrapfest Oshawa I did a couple of Make N' Takes with some of the vendors. So worth the price of admission. Here are a few that I did at those booths.

Here is something I made for my son's teacher who left, because she was only covering a maternity leave of his actual teacher. A cute box made using Little Yellow Bicycle's paper, I used instructions I found on You Tube, which I filled with card making supplies (I'm such an enabler).

Now going even more way back in the summer, I took Christy Tomlinson's She Art class. I've done others that I posted but here the final one from her class of the She-Art canvas' I finally finished. I think the next mixed media canvas I do will be Christmas themed or something like one I saw done by Maya Road. Stay tuned!

New stamps

I have been lucky to get my hands on some new stamps that are exclusive to Pointer Scrapbooking. Usually I don't work with stamps like this but I think these are pretty darn cute. Disclaimer here - I am not a very good colourer, so please don't be too critical! I used 2 kinds of pencil crayons and mineral spirits to blend on regular white cardstock.

Both of these brands gave me a creamy colour on the paper and blended effortlessly with the mineral spirits.

Here's using the Box Train Express stamp. It reminds me of my son playing with his friend Sarah. I just put it on a backing because I plan on using it on a layout in the near future. Stay tuned!

I'm happier with the colouring on this card using Scooter Fun. I used the Bo Bunny 6x6 Blast Off collection for this card, kraft cardstock and brads. Easy peasy!

Finally for this card I used the Friendship Building stamp. Again the Bo Bunny Blast Off collection and some bakers twine on dark brown cardstock.

I chose the boy images mostly because I have a boy but there are so many other great images. Go check it out!

Tote Bag

Last month at Pointer Scrapbooking's birthday crop, we were all given blank canvas bags to decorate. I actually had the heads up and took the bag home to do. My hope was to inspire others at the crop to create something beautiful with their bag too.

Got lots of positive feedback from everyone at the crop.

Anyways, Heidi, the store owner, then asked me to create one similar for her. So I thought I would provide a step by step with photos, for my blog readers, of me creating that bag. I actually like this one better! Enjoy! Everything you need is available at Pointer, except for the paint (but I know that Claudine Hellmuth's stuff is available in the store now and would work too!)

I did a colour wash with 3 shades of turquoise acrylic paint. To make a wash, I just poured a dollop of paint into a tray and put some water into it to make a thin "water colour". I then used a flat brush and painted in a side to side fashion. After, I dried the bag with my heat gun.

I then set down a doillie on the left bottom area and spritz with Tattered Angels Dragonfly glimmer mists (this is one of my fav colours and it's a limited edition -sob!) Again dry with your heat gun

Now time to embellish! I used this fantastic ribbon from Maya Road and created this flower.

Heidi has these flowers in the store and I thought it would make a great centre for the ribbon flower.

These Petaloo Color me flowers, I inked with Broken China distress inks. I then used a wet paint brush to "blend" the colours.

For the smaller Petaloo flowers, I used Tattered Angels Cherry Blossum glimmer mists. This is a very faint pink but pretty!

For the leaves I used Studio Calico's clover to colour (this is unfortunately not available at the store).

I then used a technique that Virgina Nebel showed everyone at Scrapbook and Cards Today magazine using this tape and chipboard. So much fun!

So here it is all put together. I used a Prima vine and cut it up and added all the embellishments I had spritzed and coloured to the bag, using Helmar glue (love this stuff 'cause it's like a glue gun without burning myself!). I then added glitter stickers and it was done!

A quick post

I've been coveting this stand from Pottery Barn for awhile. Other scrappers have been using it for storage of their scrappy supplies, which I think is fantastic. However, the $90 price tag here in Canada is another story.

So over at Pinterest, some fellow scrappers have been posting some DIY's. I was inspired and headed over to my Dollarama and picked up 3x Flan pans, 2 candle stick holders and used a bottle of Gorilla glue from Home Depot. Total cost $12.00 my friends! I'm quite happy with my paint/ink holder which seems to be holding up okay so far to my enormous stash of inky goodness (ignore the craziness in the background please!)

And finally I can post the costume my son wanted for Halloween. He's Fire Nation Aang from Nickelodeon's Avatar. It's simple but stressed me out because I waited last minute to make it. I'm hoping next years I will either get a head start or just buying his costume!!!

Oh my poor neglected blog......

I have had a very busy month and unfortunately many things have been neglected, including this blog. I have been doing some creative things though this month and will share in the days to come. Right now I am knee deep into the whole Halloween costume thing for my son. He wants to be Fire Nation Aang from Nickelodeon's Avatar. I'll try and remember to post photos of my attempt in making said costume!

So in the meantime blog readers I'm going to give you some cool sites I love to visit.

A very cool tutorial over at this site.... Now to figure out where in the world I can put this in my room.

Another favourite place for me to visit is the Counterfeit Kit Challenge is somewhere I like to visit to get inspired to use my stash up.

Washi tape is a big trend lately in scrapbooking and I'm a junkie for that stuff. There are a bunch of tutorials out there now for making your own. Who knew??? Here is one link to share for the fun Washi tape - so easy!

Altered binder for my Tim stamps

My work was finally clearing out the shelves and this was heading to the dumpster (is it dating myself when I can say "I remember using MS-dos!"?) The hoarder squirrel in me decided to save it.

I was thinking along the lines of 8x8 album, but this weekend inspiration hit and I thought "let's see if my Tim stamps fit" Happy dance, they fit perfectly!

So here is the altered binder for my stamps. I haven't decided how I'm going to close it yet, I'm thinking hair elastic or hairband but if there are better suggestions, I'll take them.

I covered the outside with Claudine Helmuth's gesso first because I thought it would need some "tooth" for everything to stick.

After that dried I used Claudine's multi-medium to attach Tim's Vintage Shabby Paper Stash. I attached the lace ribbon over the seams using the same. I cut out the butterflies on the dot grungeboard using Tim's dies.

I then painted the grungeboard with pearl paint, and then used Faded Jeans Distress Stain. The rose ribbon is actually from Maya Road, but I covered that with Distress Stain too. I used the alphabet background stamp from Tim's Stampers Anoynomous Going Somewhere to stamp the paper behind the butterflies. I then completed it with the letters and heart from the grungeboard Mixed Mini plain.

So on top of all my other hobbies, I openly admit that I love surfing the web. Here is my round up for this week.

I've been spending a lot of time on Pinterest . If you've never been on Pinterest, it is a social media site where you "pin" things you see on the web. You become the curator of your boards and others who find your pins, can re-pin your finds. Being a visual person, this is an awesome find for me. Right now they are only taking people through invites, so if you want to join, send me an email and I'll send you an invite. But be warned...one can spend many hours on there!

Here is something that gave me a good laugh. Elizabeth Kartchner of Dear Lizzy posted this the other day and I laughed and laughed. Her husband is one good sport!

And here is something to make one day. I think her's is so pretty.

All Day Play

Did a layout tag with the gals from Scrapbook Star. Here is my take on the one I got. I used BoBunny and Basic Grey PP, Autumn Leaves Stamps, Fancy Pants rubons, Technique Tuesday tile, EK Sucess punch, American Crafts CS, random star brads.

Also had a shower for my lil' sister this summer. I had to make 60 of these invites! So I cracked out my MM Slice for these. PP from Basic Grey, Hampton Arts card base.

Fun layout using Bo Bunny dots PP, DCWV PP kit, Fancy Pants ribbon, stamps from Tim Holtz and CTMH, journal tag from Teresa Collins, chipboard Maya Road, flower Prima, Liquid Pearls from Ranger, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists, Slice card, Making Memories letters and Heidi Swapp journaling tabs.

A layout I had done many years ago as a class. Added my own jazz to it by putting large flowers, journaling with a white gel pen

One of my recent favourite layouts. I used Prima PP, banners from Echo Park, Canvas from Canvas Corp, Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels, loops from Queen and Co., ribbon random, Maya Road chipboard, wood button from Studio Calico, Mister Huey Mists in white from Studio Calico, letters from Doodle Bug.

A layout I did in a Prima class with Cari Fennel. I added my own jazz to it, using Prima packaging to the background. I used glitter letters from Making Memories and journaling block from Pink Paislee. I also "painted the centres for the white flowers with Tattered Angels Glimmer mists (thanks to Marion Smith for the inspiration)

And finally a card inspired from my friend Melissa. Had to try it out. So I coverd the entire card in TH distress inks, splat some water and then stamped with Tim Holtz stamps. Thanks Melissa! I think I will make a dozen of these cards!

Post CHA summary

So it's been a few weeks since CHA Summer in Chicago, and I am finally going to post some thoughts and more photos. There was so much to see and despite the fact that it was a smaller show, based on what others had said, I still missed some of the vendors booths - yikes!

So even though the show is suppose to encompass all crafts, I would say 80% of the show was dedicated to the papercrafting world (which is okay with me). Some trends that I noticed (not in any particular order):

*woodgrain
*butterflies
*zebra/giraffe prints
*mini alphabets
*canvas
*mixed media (was the buzz word of the show and probably for awhile)
*more generic prints - could be used for more than just Halloween and Christmas
*lots of vintage feel still

So I think that sums it up , I will post more photos from the show when I get home.

CHA was a blast, despite the sweltering heat and humidity. My days were filled with checking out the booths and coming back to report to Heidi, the owner of Pointer Scrapbooking, with what great stuff we saw. With all 4 teachers there, it was great to collaborate on our ideas and wishes for the store. Lots of yummy stuff to come!!!! Below are some photos I took and I will try over the next week to report on what we saw.

So we drove to Chicago (actually Simon drove, we chatted and slept). So in total it was about 11 hours to there including all the lovely toll booths like the one below.

Leaving soon for the Craft and Hobby Association conference (CHA). For those who don't know, this is when all the craft vendors get together and showcase their latest and greatest items for shop owners to peruse. I'll be attending with Pointer Scrapbooking, the store I teach at. We are so lucky that Heidi the owner invited all her teachers to attend. I'm so excited, as this will be my first show ever!!! I will try and report back what lovely stuff I spot during the week!

CKC Buffalo Review

Sorry everyone for not posting much these days, I have waaay too much on my plate. I am happy to report that I spent the past weekend at the Creating Keepsakes Buffalo Convention with my crew of happy scrappy friends. If you've never been to a CKC, you should attend. I've been going for 4 years now, and this year did not disappoint. I did plenty of classes to keep me out of the vendor faire which sort of helped. I will note that the vendor faire was much smaller than years previous but there were plenty of places for me to still spend my moolah! Anyhow, below are a review of the classes I took and hopefully it will help a fellow scrapper who plans on attending another CKC. I will note that I have a boy only, so I tend to take classes geared to that direction. I also judge a class based on how much product you get for the class price. So here goes. I will post photos later this week, if I remember.

All Boy - Queen & Co. : I always love their products, so this class did not disappoint for giving me solid boy layouts. 4 pages made with exactly enough product. Everyone in the class won a prize too.

Scrapping with Sketches - Creating Keepsakes: Didn't learn anything new but they did give us an entire pack of Basic Grey paper pack. Layouts were so that I could easily change it up easily enough with the paper pack to gear towards my boy photos.

Perspectives by Ali - Technique Tuesday: Used Ali's new paper pack, part of Ali's stamp set and again, solid layouts that I will use. Nothing new learned. Teacher was a bit confusing but the layout is not difficult to do at all. I won a prize of their chalk inks but gave it to one of my crew who recently lost her scrappy stuff in a flood.

30 Minute Layouts - Prima: Despite having a boy, I love Prima Products with a passion. Cari Fennel taught this class and we made 3 lovely, flowery layouts with plenty of Prima product left over.

Boy Mini Album - Prima: Again another solid mini album made with Prima products. Taught again by Cari, who is an awesome teacher and super nice. The photo of the class sample is "meh" but the one we did in class is much better. Plenty of Prima product left over to play with and believe it or not - most of it was geared to boys!

Mixed Media Album - Strictly Scrapbooking: Used My Mind's Eye paperline. The photos for the mini album were dark and did not do the album justice. Loved the end result and loved playing with the glue gun in the class.

Terrific Trends - Studio Calico: I was so happy that they were offering classes this year at CKC. Even happier that Kelley Purkey was teaching them too (she is super nice). We misted with the Mister Huey sprays on a layout and made a card too. I didn't learn anything new, but it gave me a chance to play a bit with their products. (I also won a gift certificate as a door prize to their booth, and was very happy that I got buy stuff at their booth!)

Mixing and Matching - Faber Castell: I was happy that this class was added. They gave everyone a kit to take home and which we didn't have to open, as there was plenty of product on the table for us to play with. I wanted to try all these mediums and loved that we got to play. Disappointed with my "art" but I will try and make them again. I will say that our teacher was a bit flakey too but we all survived.

Sorry gang that I have been MIA the last little while. I've been so busy with life and so tired from running around that I haven't had a chance to sit down and blog. But now I have a little moment to write. I have been trying to be creative these days and made a few projects which I hope to share with all of you shortly.

In the meantime I'll share some other work I did last month for DT/teaching.

Here is a mini album I made using Fancy Pants Like Father Like Son line and was my May project for Crop Chocolate.

Speaking of Crop Chocolate, I had to finally say goodbye to that design team job. It was too much on my plate, working full time, teaching at my LSS Pointer Scrapbooking and being on this design team. My energy now will be focusing on doing more work of my own and perhaps get more stuff published (or at least attempt to get published).

This past month at Pointer Scrapbooking I've been teaching a new class for me, called Rapid Fire Scrapbooking ( 6 pages in 2 hours). The idea being that every month the class would make 6 new pages that they would have completed for their album. Here's a sample of one I did for the class.

As promised here are the cards I took with Nicky Manel in her watercolouring class at Pointer Scrapbooking. Ignore the image though of the top right one, I totally messed up the image Nicky gave us and went on my own to do one using the technique she taught us...it's obvious I need more practice. Nicky is an awesome teacher, so if you get a chance, go and take her class.

I recently completed this kit from Basic Grey using their Curio line of paper. Awesome paper line.

There was so much left over in the kit, that I decided to go on my own and make some more cards, inspired by the kit. I didn't put any greetings on the front yet, as I like to have lots of generic cards and put sentiments on before I give them. Here are the cards I came up with.

Sorry for taking such a long break from blogging. It's been busy around here and this weekend being Easter and a long weekend, I'm hoping to get lots of crafting done!

I'll post some of the lovely things from Scrap Fest. If you are ever in K-W or Oshawa and love all things scrappy, definitely go!

I was so excited about getting this apron. Scrapping Turtle in KW was giving away this for buying $30.00 in Fancy Pants stuff. Like that was hard!?!?

Caroline from Maya Road came and did Make and Takes. How could I not do this awesome tag!

Mr. Fancy Pants himself was doing this Make and Take. It was a very large scrunched flower using their coffee filter papers, PP from FP and glimmer mists. So much fun!

This was the Make N' Take I created for Pointer Scrapbooking booth. It was fun teaching this and meeting all the wonderful people in the 2 hours I did this at the booth.

This lovely card was from the Art House and it was again Karen Ellis' largest Make N' Take with the whole crop participating. Love the techniques and will definitely be doing more of these in the future!

Here was a make n' take we did in the crop. Forget the woman's name but she's a distributor of all things scrappy. Anyhow, it is suppose to be a decor item using the new Tim Holtz easel die on the back, but I'm going to use this on it's own as a card, and save the easel for another project. Loving the easel BTW!

This make n' take is from the Learning Factory. Love, that they always do a mini album. Will definitely have to "jazz" this up though. Not sure what I'm going to do with it.

And here is one of the prizes I won from Mr. Fancy Pants himself. Love this line!

And the other prize I won by working my butt off! Had to race another woman shaking jelly bean filled water bottles (had to be there). Wahoo - always love the classes and workshops coming out of the Art House Studio. Now I have no excuse!!!! Thanks Karen!

Last night I took an amazing class with fellow instructor, Nicky Manel in watercolouring stamped images, at Pointer Scrapbooking. Will definitely post those pictures later this weekend with all my layouts I did at Scrapfest too.

Looking forward to the challenges and especially to try and use up my current stash. Loving this new site called Counterfeit Kit Challenge. So now I have to challenge myself to make them up!

Also just got back from Scrapfest and had a fabulous weekend with my scrapping Peeps! I even won a couple of prizes too! If you ever are in the area and want a fabulous weekend of scrapping, shopping, make n'takes and just all around great scrappiness, definitely come! I'll post photos later of some of the make n'takes, as well as some of the pages I was able to complete.

Well this week has been pretty crazy. I'm still trying to get back into the groove of things after my trip to Atlanta but I think I have too much on my plate and it feels like an never ending cycle! I was able to squeeze in some crafty goodness though. And even got to try out my new Ranger Craft Scrubbie.

Even though the class is now done. I'm still working on my She-Art girls from Christy Tomlinson's class. She'll be offering it again as a download in April and I think it is definitely worth it for anyone wanting to dauble in multi-media art. She gives plenty of videos with great instructions. I'm going to take her next class She Has 3 Hearts Art Journaling too.

Speaking of Art-Journaling. I also did this for my cover of my art-journal that I plan on doing. I used Claudine Helmuth's canvas to cover a sketch book. I then painted it with water colour crayons. I added some quote rub-ons from Rhonna Farrer (these are ancient!) And stamps from Pink Paislee-House of 3, Parisan Anthology (I so love this line)

I'm also working like a mad woman trying to get projects I owe to stores done. Here is sneak peak at a mini-album I am doing for Pointers Scrapbooking and will be teaching in April.

So being away for the week in Atlanta, I came home today, to this lovely package! It is my prize pack from Ranger for leaving a comment on their blog. I encourage everyone to go and leave them some love...you never know when you'll get something in return.

I'm most looking forward to trying out the new Tim Holtz stains and the craft scrubbie, but all of this stuff is truly yummy! I'll post some results from me playing around with my new stash!

I've always loved the look of multimedia art and wanted to do some art journaling. I've only dabbled in it a bit and was kind of scared to try it out, but really wanted to get inky-painty-like. When Christy Tomlinson from Scarlett Lime said she was doing an e-course called She Art, I was very interested. Sign up is now closed but she is doing it again as a download starting April 11. It is so worth the money! In the first week alone I learned so much from her. Here is this weeks She Art I created. It's my first and I see a few of her flaws but I will just embrace it!

Design Team Stuff for Crop Chocolate

March's Design Team theme is travel on Crop Chocolate. Go check out all the fabulous work from all the Chocolatiers. So I can finally showcase my projects this month.

First up is a box I made DS for carrying his toys in when we go on car trips. I used an old Maya Road tin and altered it with Echo Park's Little Boy collection. I measured a 1" stripe of the candy stripe paper for the outside and adhered it with glossy accents. The inner blue dot was decorated with stickers from the kit then cut to 5.25" x 4.25". I then used Glossy accents on the inside ridge of the box to adhere the paper. Easy!

Here is my layout using the Making Memories Passport kit. I used the packaging to mat the photo and then cut the script paper to mat the previous. I fussy cut the flowers to make a photo anchor. The blue stripe was cut to make a ribbon banner and "road trip" was cut from the blue also using the Slice Travel card. I also used My Little Shoebox letters in the title. I finally outlined the centre with a black pen. All embellsihments are also part of the Passport kit - I love those canvas tags!

Speaking of tags - I made a luggage tag with the kit also. I'm going to write my info and laminate this baby. I'm hoping that it doesn't get too abused the hands of the luggage handlers!

Been busy trying to craft this week with deadlines looming over my head for all creative stuff I needed to get done. Believe it or not I'm actually inspired. My housework is suffering, but I'm having fun!

Here is a card I made for the Scrapbook Star online crop challenge. Paper from Stampin' Up, cardstock Prism and stamp from CTMH ( I love this stamp set).

And for the home decor challenge. This was something that was inspired by one I saw on Fleur's blog awhile back. After taking this photo though, I did add adhesive pearls to the ribbon. Birdcage from Michael's, flowers from Pointers Scrapbooking, ribbon from Making Memories Panaroma kit.

I also did some work for Crop Chocolate, but can't post until Tuesday, I think. So stay tuned.

Happy dance - I found out today that I'm a winner over at the Ranger blog - seriously can't wait to see what I get!

A quick ATC I made for Scrapbook Star's Online Crop. Used DCWV pattered paper from the Mariposa Stack (so loving this paper - very different from other DCWV papers: this set is more collage/vintage feel), stamp set from Fiskars, edge punch from Martha Stewart Crafts and clip from Making Memories.

Here is a quick bracelet I made using the Pandora-type beads my dear friend Julia gave me for Christmas. Used leather for the bracelet and tied off the end with spacer beads.

Been meaning to all week but my iPhone was not co-operating with me. All is Zen now with me and my phone.

Wanted to first share this found great idea online which is a fabulous idea. Go check it out.

Here is what DH got me for V-day. He knows me so well - jelly beans are the key to my heart!

I made this mini-book based on Tim Holtz's idea that he posted on his blog. I've made this book in the past but I love the idea of using the tissue tape to seal the edges. I made this one for DH for v-day and filled it with the 10 Things I loved about him.

And in the spirit of V-day - I love all the colourful flowers in all the shops around (right next to the no name tuna!)

Yup here is my second posting for technically today. I will say though that the last one was really early into the day, so for me it was yesterday.

Here are some cards I made recently to share with you bloggers.
A couple of male birthday cards. I find making male cards hard sometimes. The key is to keep it pretty simple. I tried. Both cards are using the Piggy tales paper and embellies. I then used the Making Memories letters to put the sentiment on.

Valentines day is the time when I can give my boys some frilly things (in my head anyways). Here is one for DH. It's a tag I did awhile back revisited. I inked it with Brick Red Distress Ink, covered in Red Stickles. I then found this creative kit from Dollarama of all places, that had the handmade paper, skeleton leaves and burlap in it.

Here is one for DS who is 3. It's a 3-D heart made out of doillies. Got the idea from Heidi Swapp's Ustream video she was doing

Finally, here is a fun and quick project I did using Tim Holtz's grunngeboard. Don't remember who posted the instructions first (might have been Tim?), but here is mine. Basically you make a bracelet with grungeboard, paint it with whatever medium you want ( I used black paint for the base and top coat of Luminere paint and then sanded the embossing to release some of the black). I added a Prima flower for my focal point and since I don't own any hitch fasteners, I used velcro for my closure.

So a couple of weeks ago I went on a weekend retreat to scrapbook with my GG pals. I find that when I attend these things, I barely get anything done but I do love the social aspect of it all. Anyhow, after years of going to these things, I think I have my act together. I brought with me only kits from classes past - no thinking and I feel like I got something done. So all of the LO's I did that weekend were designed by others - that's where I feel like I cheated. I did jazz them up if I felt like it, and if scrapping partner in crime thought I should add something, I usually took her advice. I find using kits sometimes gets me out the scrapping rut too, and I usually am opened up to ideas for future pages.

Anyhow, here is my line up from that weekend.

Here's a kit from NinaBrook Designs called Summer Days. I usually love their kits and this one is no exception. I didn't change much except the journaling block and adding my own photos.

Here is a kit from Gela-tins that I did many years ago at the Crop for Kids. I was fortunate enough to have a chipboard star from Chatterbox that fit in the patterned paper star on the left side. Crazy that the colour and everything went! I also used Rangers Glossy Accents on the title. And Rangers Stickles to highlight all the stars.

This was a class I took at CKC-Buffalo last year with Piggy Tales. Though the class was hugely disappointing, I did like this LO for it's elements. In this layout, I used a title of my own choosing, so the letters they gave us didn't have enough "h's", so I made one using a "n" and a "l" chopped, and at the junction I used some thread to hide it. Also added letters from making memories to complete the title.Very happy with the end result!

Here is another LO from that same class. It was intended to be used for baby boy photos but the genius of Diana thought it would go nicely with these photos. I had struggled with the photos because all the winter paper I had brought with me, didn't go. I would have never have thought to use this paper for a winter layout, and yet I think it works. Anyways, I added the title letters and button strip from Echo Park, the felt ribbon from Queen& Co., journaling block stamp from Autumn Leaves, buttons are an assortment from my stash.

Here is a layout I lifted from a CM catalougue. Well the round part and the paper used were from CM. I changed the title placement, added it to a 12x12 cardstock background, added in the clear sticker mounted on patterned paper and made the title using Quickkutz' License plate font and die with a topping of Ranger's Glossy Accents. I added the brads and hammered them with Tim Holtz' textured hammer (love that thing!)

This one here is a Technique Tuesday class. I love using these Technique Tiles and stamping and inking away. I changed the placement and size of the orange "ribbon" but overall I kept to the class outline. I'm not such a rebel.

Still Recovering

Last weekend I went away to a scrapbooking retreat with fellow Girl Guide leaders at a GG camp. It was good fun but all week I have been operating on a deficit of sleep! The theme was of course winter and silly me was too busy scrapbooking to actually take photos (which I deeply regret today). Anyhow, here is an example of the fun food we were given that weekend. I'm in love with them!

I will have to post my layouts I did later this weekend. Promise!

Also this week, us crazy beaders at work got together. Here was one of the recent projects we did using wire and pearl beads. The theme was pea pods, so we tried two methods. Both are my prototypes, but I'm like the more organic free-form one (one with just silver wire). So I'm thinking of making a few more.

This past Thursday is also the beginning of the Lunar New Year. I love this time of year simply for all the festive decor at Asian markets and for all the fabulous food my family makes. Gung Hay Fat Choi, Sun Nin Fi Look (Prosperity and Happy New Year!)

A couple of cards I made this weekend. The first one is for Cropchocolate's February challenge of creating a valentine inspired project. So far I came up with this card which uses plenty of items I bought from CC.

Here are the instructions, since I had to write it out for Crop Choclate anyways.
1:Using the Friend textured plates and cardstock, I embossed the surface using my Cuttlebug.(Sandwich for cuttlebug is: A plate, textured plate, cardstock, rubber mat, B plate and for my cuttlebug 2 cardboard shims worked).
2:I then inked the surface with Tim Holtz's Velvet distress ink, to make the embossing pop. I then cut down the embossed cardstock to fit a card front.
3:Using my Slice Tags card, I cut out a large heart with flower in the centre of the Fancy Pants Crush paper called Head Over Heals
4: Using the Slice Tag Maker, I put the cut out heart in the metal rim.
5:Using my Cuttlebug again, Tim Holtz's Fancy Flourish die and DCWV glitter paper, I cut out the flourishes. Keeping the smaller one for this project. I also snipped one end of the small flourish, so that I could separate it on the card.
6:Used pop dots on the heart tag and used the Green glue to glue down the flourish.
7: Using a black pen I outlined the centre flower and put a large bling in the centre. I then glued everything to a card back.

Had some leftover's from the above card, so decided to make another for CropChocolate challenge.
1.Fancy Pants Delightful paper for background.
2. Using Making Memories Packing tape I made a ruffled "ribbon"
3. From the Tim Holtz Fanciful Flourish die cut out of glitter paper, I cut the larger one down for this card and glued down with Green glue
4. Using the tag from the Slice Tag card, cut out of Core'dinations cardstock tag.
5. Punched out a heart from scrap of Fancy Pants Delightful paper and adhered to tag.
6. Attached tag and put ruffled ribbon at top. Added Fancy Pants pins, Sandylion sticker to tag. Used pen to add "stitching".
Up next is a card I made for a friend who just had a little girl. I'm hoping she doesn't read my blog but if she does, then she gets a sneak peak at what I'm sending her way!

Some Scrappy Stuff to Share

Just finished as much as I could in the challenge realm on Scrapbook Star's forums for the online crop they were having. This definitely got me back in the scrapbooking mood.
Here is my layout using a food embellishment. I decided to scrap my Chinese New Year photos from last year.

I used a pair of take out chopsticks as my embellishment on my title "Gung Hay Fat Choy - Year of the Tiger". The pattered paper I used was from DCWV Asian pack, boarder punch from Martha Stewart, chipboard from Maya Road (which was all coloured with homemade glimmer mist using Tim Holtz re-inkers and Perfect Pearls), journaling circle from Jenni Bowlin. I then used my label maker to add titles to the photos.

Up next was the non-traditional scrapbook page. I normally scrap 12x12 but have done a couple of 8.5x11 in the past. Here is this one that I came up with.

Used some really old Autumn Leaves paper by Rhonna Farrer, Autumn Leaves stamp, Queen & Co. filmstrip felt, American Crafts thickers, Making Memories letter stickers.

This is the layout using my favourite photo from 2010. Took this one with my iPhone but I just loved the look on his face.

Patterned paper is by Pebbles, felt ribbon is Queen & Co., rubons were used because there was a discussion on Scrapbook Star about them and I thought I would bust them out (Art Warehouse and Fancy Pants), stamps are We R Memory Keepers and Inque Boutique, chipboard heart by Maya Road, mists used from Tattered Angels and homemade one using Tim's Fire Brick re-inker and gold perfect pearls.

Finally the card challenge using old supplies. I dug through my scrap stash and found some ancient Basic Grey paper and I believe Fancy Pants. I then inked a Technique Tuesday oval tile and stamped the Stamping Bella monster stamp on paper. Finally I highlighted some details with Ranger Stickles.
So there you go what kept me busy this week!

So I thought I would let everyone know that Scrapbook Star is having an online crop going on this weekend. It is always lots of fun with prizes for each challenge. The best part this year is that the challenges go for a week. So everyone still has time to go check out the forums and participate.

I don't remember whose blog I saw mention of this book below, but she used it display her Christmas cards and I thought what a great idea. I found this beautiful spiral bound book at the dollar store of all places. The artwork was just gorgeous to me.

So what I'm going to do with mine is to display all the handmade cards, tags and ATC's I get. It's my book of inspiration that I can display on my table, simply by opening the book. Well as it stands now, it doesn't close anymore because of the yumminess inside.

You make beautiful things and I love almost everything you make. So I ask what happened here???

I'm sure to someone out there, this is pretty but for me it hurts my creative juices. I received this baby in a grab bag of scrappy stuff, so I really shouldn't complain but I was shocked when I pulled it out. Anyone of you readers have a suggestion on how to use this? Maybe I will RAK it to someone, would you like it? Leave me a comment and may come to your home soon!

I need some creative mojo, so my best bet is always pulling out kits. Here is a banner kit from Maya Road that I will decorate my soon-to-be-organized-one-day craft room. Love playing with Maya mists!

Next up is a canvas I did for the LSS I help out at. She wanted something to showcase what to do with products. I pulled from some previous tags I did and made some new ones also. I was inspired by Tim Holtz' and Jennifer McQuire's canvas' they did last year. I might add some mists on the edge afterwards cause it's looking a bit plain to me at the moment.

For Christmas Hubby got me a set of these lens for Christmas for my beloved iPhone. I love gadgets and this was right up my alley. This store has some awesome toys for the photo affectionado, and if I had the moolah, I would definitely be buying up some of these toys. Anyhow, in the package came a plastic toy dinosaur, how cute and perfect for trying out my lens!

My only criticism so far is that for the fisheye and the wide angle, I get the bottom ring of the lens showing up. I'm going to play with centering the lens better and maybe that will be eliminated. Overall it has been fun to play with these. I use my iPhone as my second camera when I don't have my better one with me and love the thing a lot!

Well today I am coming down from all the Christmas eating and present opening. Very excited cause DH got me the Macro/Wide Angle attachment for my iPhone from PhotoJojo. Still waiting for it to arrive but I can't wait to play with it! Got lots of other miscellaneous scrappy stuff which I am pretty happy and excited to play with.

Went to Michaels today and stocked up on their shelving because it was 50% plus another 25% - awesome deal. Now to re-arrange my space so it can fit!

Thought I would share with you an canvas I finished not too long ago. I was inspired by both Marion Smith's design sense and something I saw on Tim Holtz's site awhile back. I used 2 small canvas' I had in my craft room. I painted and stamped a script on the back canvas with white paint. On the smaller front canvas I used Making Memories tape and then covered it with pink Making Memories glaze. I then embellished the canvas with Tim's bird cage die painted, flowers from Prima Marketing, pins from Maya Road and Tim Holtz, and tag by Tim too. The butterfly stamp is a Martha Stewart Crafts one, that I think is still available. Took me awhile to get it together, but I am very happy with the end result.

Next I made a ring from Vintaj's vintage brass filagree, bent around my finger. Then I used a strong liquid adhesive to attach the Making Memories Brun Baubles I got from Crop Chocolate. Really quick and a lot of fun. I think next time I will colour the brass using Tim Holtz's alcohol ink - will post results later.

Since I don't own many of his dies and especially the Movers and Shapers, I had to be a bit creative with this tag. I used my slice to cut the word out of the middle of the stocking on cardstock. I then mounted the cardstock onto Grunge paper and cut out my stocking. I inked the red part according to Tim's Day 12 instructions using Distress ink and crackle medium.

Here is Day 11's tag for the 12 days of tags by Tim Holtz. I used the dictionary page for Christmas as the base. Then I used my foam stamp and white paint to create the resist on the side. I cut the tree with my Slice FaLaLa card and covered the edges with glue and flock (I love the word flock). Finished off with a metal plate, my Studio G Christmas stamps for the word "celebrate" and hammered the brads with Tim's texture hammer (I'm in love with that tool!). Only one more day to go! Wow that went fast!

Here is my take on it. I don't own the Christmas carol stamp (actually don't own many Tim's stamps cause they are so hard to come by in my neck of the woods!), so I used Tim's tissue tape. I found out that it doesn't readily absorb wet ink but it did eventually dry. I also cut out my own rosette, again cause I don't own the die. Added some random buttons I found in my stash and we are good to go!

So I am finally catching up. Here goes......

Day 6:

So for this tag, I used a cuttlebug embossing folder. My idea didn't quite pan out as I thought. The colours are a bit muddy for my liking but it was fun!

Day 7:

Loved playing with stickyback canvas. Since I'm using smaller tags, my poinsettia is a bit squished. But this was fun to do regardless

Day 8:

I had so much fun with extreme masking. I cut my own with Tim's blank masks with my Slice. Since the Slice doesn't cut all the way through the mask material, it actually works well for this medium. I also cut out the little snowman from the FaLaLa Slice card and embellished his nose and scarf with felt. Had a lot of fun with extreme masking. I think it is one of my fav techniques.

Here is my Day 5 Tag for Tim's 12 Days of Tags

So for today's tag I tried to follow Tim's recipe. However I don't own many of his stamps, so I improvised with an Inkadinkado stamp for the Santa. For the tag I cut down a tag I already had on hand, painted it with acrylic and then topped it with Tim's Crackle paint. For the numbers I used chipboard instead and covered them with Ranger Enamel accents and then with black paint. And finally for the flowers I used regular embossing powder but chipped away some of it before I hit it with the heat gun. Afterwards I used an antique gold paint to tone it down.

And here is my December Daily album, lots of journaling to do to catch up with!

For the title I used Making Memories stickers that I covered with embossing/glitter powder. I did the same for the poinsettias as well, and am quite happy with the results. Now I just have to put all my journalling and photos so far and I'll feel much better!

I haven't updated this baby in almost a month. Where has time gone? I really haven't had any mojo in November but did get some crafting into my life which I should post. Anyways, with December here, I'm keeping myself busy. I'm going to try and do Ali Edwards' December Daily and Tim Holtz' 12 Tags of December. Here are my first 4 Days worth.
Day 1:

So I don't own Tim's Haunted House die or the fence one for that matter. So I started to panic - what am I going to do??? But after seeing others and their creativity, I decided to scrounge around in my stash and use what I had. It actually made this more fun because it stretched my creative juices. I found the stamp from Art House Studio that we got at Scrapfest and used it with grungeboard I had around. I did have a fence boarder punch and since I was using smaller tags than Tim, it all worked out. Whew!
Day 2:

So for Day 2, I used a piece of pattered paper I had with music since I don't own a stamp with such. I followed Tim's instructions with making my own custom ink pad with Cut n' Dry foam. (So that's why I bought a package last year - LOL) Lots of fun. Instead of embossing, I ended up using Ranger's Crackle Accents on top.
Day 3:

I have tons of this tissue tape and love it. It was fun again digging and trying to find things that would work for this tag. Love this flower technique he showed, and will have to do it again!
Day 4:

I really struggled with this one. Pretty cool technique by Tim but I didn't have his facets on hand. Dug through and found some of his plain acrylic tags and decided to go with that. Used some MME paper for the background and I'm okay with this tag too.

Next up are the Make and Takes from Scrapfest that I promised to post.

This was the Make and Take from The Art House Studio from K-W . Love this store and love this project, however, I think I might change up some of the colours of the findings, so it matches better. Will post when done.

Next is a 7 Gypsies Album from Learning Factory in Brantford. She always has premium make and takes. We just did the cover but walked away with the enitre album. Love it and will definitely add some more trinkets to the front!

Next are a card and a tag, both of which are pretty darn cute. Don't remember who I made them with, just loved playing with glitter.

Like I said earlier, going to Scrapfest is so worth it, just for the make and takes alone!

Last weekend I went to Scrapfest with my Scrappy friends, Diana, Lynn, Melissa and Amanda. We had a blast and I did plenty of duties over the weekend. I helped Heidi at Pointers Scrapbooking with setup and make and takes on Friday night. I also took a photography class with Kathy Thompson Lafoley, which really helped me understand my camera better. I've got to play with it some more - just means more pictures of M. man. I took a few make and takes which I put in a later post. These alone make it worth it to attend and wait in line for them!

Check out Marion Smith's site! She is selling tickets at a $1.00 a piece to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Even though I'm Canadian through and through, I just wanted to support this cause. She will pick one lucky winner for a 8x8 mini album signed and autographed by her, her signature 6x6 mini album from one of her classes and a pink ATG gun! How cool is that!

So I have today off and you'd think having a long weekend I'd get plenty of crafting done - such was not the case. Mostly prepping for Scrapfest next weekend, trying to decide what to bring and what not to bring. I can't wait to see my scrappy friends and do something creative!

It's been a few years now since I have blogged but I've decided that I need to revive this blog again.
